Mass Bass B

Born in 1986 in Kinshasa, Mass Bintsamu Massamba, known by his stage name Mass Basse, is a composer, bassist, arranger, and sound engineer. A self-taught musician, he became involved at a very young age with Lexxus Legal, with whom he advocated for his people and for human rights. He has taken part in numerous tours across Africa and Europe. Following reprisals for his activism, he sustained a head injury that left lasting effects. Aware that he was under threat, he decided to leave for Europe in 2016.

In France since January 2019, he has been a member of the Agency of Artists in Exile and has participated in many musical projects. In 2021, he founded the Mpévé Band and has performed notably at the Centre culturel suisse in Paris, La Dynamo de Banlieues Bleues in Pantin, the Mucem in Marseille, and Les Subs in Lyon, as well as at the Coucool and Visions d’exil festivals.
