In Ex(ile) Lab
A laboratory co-funded by the Creative Europe programme, In Ex(ile) Lab brought together 9 cultural structures based in France, Italy, Cyprus and Portugal between September 2022 and August 2024. During the project, the partners tested transdisciplinary pathways for a group of artists in exile, drawing on existing artistic support tools. In Ex(ile) Lab helped to equip cultural structures with tools and methodologies to work with artists in exile, with the aim of increasing the participation of artists in exile in European cultural sectors.
12 artists were selected to take part in a one-year programme, including activities focused on artistic creation and practice (master classes, audiovisual creation workshops, residencies, pitch sessions, presentations) and activities that meet a need for information and professionalisation (mentoring, webinars). This program was an opportunity for artists to enrich their artistic practice, increase their mobility and build relationships with new partners and audiences.
In Ex(ile) Lab partners were able to invite researchers and cultural professionals to discuss themes related to exile. These online meetings were open to a wider circle of cultural organizations.
The In Ex(ile) Lab project resulted in a catalog presenting the artists and the performances created and a toolbox for cultural organizations wishing to work with artists in exile. Download these two documents below and find the full contents of the project on https://inexilelab.eu/.
