residence and exhibition: Mehdi Yarmohammadi & Hura Mirshekari at the Festival Cours et Jardins des Arts

The 2019 edition of Cours et Jardins des Arts welcomes Mehdi Yarmohammadi (sculptor) et Hura Mirshekari (painter and poet) as guests of honor for a two-week residence (8/07 – 21/07/2019).

During the festival, they will each create a new work as well as exhibit recent works. Medhi will also lead a modelage workshop on July 13th, open to all! The exhibition will be open to the public during the weekend of the 20th and 21st July.

Mehdi Yarmohammadi was born in Zabol, Iran 1979. He was professionally trained in drawing, crafting, and painting. He has presented his work in Iran, Denmark, and France, where he was forced to stay in 2016. He and his wife now have a residency at the Cité Internationale Des Arts, as part of the program of the Ministry of Culture for residency and accompaniment of refugee artists coming from areas in conflict. It’s notable to mention his wife Hura Mirshekari is a painter too. He has exhibited in the showcases of the ministry of Culture at the Royal Palace, and in Port Dorée (visions d’exile)

Born in Zarand, Iran in 1985, Hura Mirshekari studied mathematics in Zābol and painting at the university of Sistan-et-Baloutchistan in Zāhedān. She has presented her work in Iran, the United States and France, where she were forced to stay in 2016. Welcomed at la Cité internationale des arts with her husband the sculptor Medhi Yarmohammadi, as part of the Ministry of Culture residency program for refugee artists in conflict zones, her work has been showcased by the Ministry of Culture – Palais Royal and the Palais de la porte Dorée (festival Visions d’exil).
