biography
Born in 1992 in Damascus, Syria, Wadee Alkhouri is a dancer, rapper, and slam poet. Trained in contemporary dance and ballet at the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts and in theater at the Damascus Theater Laboratory, he participated in dance performances with the Sima Dance Company (Bones and Faces, Minute 2012, City of Puppets 2011). In 2011, he danced in the musical film Laila and the Wolves, directed by Mohamed Abdel Aziz. A dance teacher for the United Nations Population Fund in Damascus in 2016, Wadee also taught theatrical movement at the Damascus School of Performing Arts in 2019. He is the director, choreographer, and performer of the show Attitude, which was presented in Damascus in 2018. As a singer and songwriter, he collaborated with the group Ari Jan, performing in Lebanon and Syria. Their collaboration resulted in the album Jîyan. Since arriving in France in 2021, his artistic practice has focused on blending contemporary dance, rap, and slam. He has been a member of the Artists in Exile workshop since June 2023 and performed upon his arrival at the Mucem and at La Friche la Belle de Mai in dance as part of the Visions d’exil #6 festival.
