biography
Born in 1982 in Russia, Bulat Sharipov is a multidisciplinary artist (video, photography). After earning a degree in international culture from Saint Petersburg State University, he worked as a journalist and documentary photographer. In 2013, he co-founded the audiovisual installation studio Tundra, known for its site-specific works at digital art festivals worldwide. The collective is dedicated to artistic interaction with urban or natural spaces through the use of sound and light. In 2016, he created experimental documentaries focusing on urban environments, interpersonal connections with places, and human-environment relationships. He also collaborates with museums in Saint Petersburg, producing educational documentaries at the intersection of art and science. In 2022, he moved to Marseille, where he became a member of the MITR collective, an interdisciplinary project centered on research around the river ecosystem in Marseille. The project was nominated for the COAL Art and Environment Prize. He is also working with the Laboratoire Plastique de Pampariguste, a collective of scientists and artists established by the GR2013 Guides Bureau. He has been a member of the Atelier des Artistes en Exil since 2022.
