Born in 1995 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Patrick Erwin Michel is a poet, slammer and journalist. He studied law at the Faculty of Law and Economics of the Université d’État d’Haïti. He is also studying cinema at the Université Vincennes Saint-Denis (Paris 8). In 2021, he published his first collection of poems, Vers-bouillage d’un rêveur isolé, with Éditions Floraison. In March 2022, he won the France Monde-France Océans short report prize for his report Simbi la sentinelle des eaux haïtiennes. In 2023, he is the winner of the Afriques-Haïti francophone writing residency, for his forthcoming novel Le meilleur est de l’autre côté. In 2024, he published his second book of poetry, Hécatombe des nuits blanches, at Les bonnes feuilles. Arriving in France in 2023, he is a member of the agency of artists in exile.
