biography
Born in 1985 in Oran, Algeria, Nime is a comic book artist, caricaturist, and sculptor. In 2007, he graduated from the School of Fine Arts (sculpture major) while collaborating with comic magazines such as Faynouk and illustrating children’s stories. In 2009, he became a comic columnist for the weekend supplement of the Algerian daily El Watan. He was hosted in residence at the Maison des Auteurs in Angoulême, where he developed the project Anecdotes, about Algerian society and the life of a young Algerian cartoonist.
In 2013, he founded Créature, a communication agency, while continuing to create works on his blog Dans ma bulle and on social media. He supported the 2019 protest movement, the “Hirak,” with a series of drawings against the Algerian regime, which led to his arrest and imprisonment. He received the Couilles au cul Prize at the Angoulême Festival in 2020. He went into exile in France in 2021 and has been a member of the Agency of Artists in Exile since 2022.
