Born in 1976 in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mega Mingiedi Tunga is a multidisciplinary visual artist. He is a graduate of the Académie des beaux-arts de Kinshasa and the HEAR, Haute école des arts du Rhin, Strasbourg. In 2003, he began his career with the installation project Kinshasa Wenze Wenze, the capital of Kinshasa becoming a central element in his work. He is a co-founder of the “EZZA-impossibles” collective. He took part in the exhibition Beauté Congo 1926-2015 Congo Kitoko, at the Fondation Cartier in 2015. In 2021, he presented his solo exhibition Année zéro at the Chaufferie at HEAR and participates with two of his monumental frescoes in the collective exhibition Kinshasa Chroniques at the Cité de l’architecture in Paris. Since 2022, he has been working on his personal TELEMA project, developing an imaginary cartography in ballpoint pen and collage, recomposing natural borders and questioning the boundaries of Africa. In 2023, he received a grant from the Cité internationale des arts in Paris. He is a member of the Agency for artists in exile.
