biography
Born in 1991 in Novosibirsk, Russia, Masha Kiseleva is a contemporary artist and activist. After studying at the Novosibirsk Academy of Art (2008-2014) and the Moscow School of Contemporary Art (2021-2022), her work focused on activism and actionism, including the creation of the Pussy Riot icon, and the Monstrations, absurd marches against repression in Russia. She is also the author of the book Ecce Femina about women who are drug consumers. Her work has been exhibited in Paris, Moscow, and Belgrade. In 2025, she will participate in a residency at AIR InSILo in Austria, supported by the Culture Moves Europe program. She has been a member of the agency of artists in exile since 2023.
