biography
Born in Tunisia in 1979, Houda Ajili is a Tunisian painter and curator. She graduated in visual arts from the Institut Supérieur des Beaux-Arts in Tunis in 2004, and completed her university studies in 2017 with a Master’s degree in Transcultural Mediations on ethics as a force for change, at the Universities of the Euro-Mediterranean Area and Southern Countries, in Italy.
Between 2008 and 2009, Houda Ajili received a grant from the Tunisian Ministry of Culture, during which she spent a year in residence at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris. In 2010, she obtained a Master’s degree in contemporary philosophy with a specialization in aesthetics from the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences in Tunis.
She has shown her work in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Tunisia, Egypt, Morocco, Italy and France, including at the Salon d’Automne in Paris in 2014. She also curated the first Salon d’Automne International in Tunisia in 2014. She was a member of the Tunisian State Art Purchasing Commission. Houda Ajili has experience in teaching the visual arts and running charitable painting workshops.
She lives and works in Paris and is a member of l’atelier des artistes en exil.
