Al Hasbani Yara

Born in Damascus in 1993, Yara Al Hasbani studied ballet and contemporary dance at the Higher Institute of Dramatic Art in Damascus. She dances at festivals (Dancing on the Edge, Action for Hope, Art for Peace, Le Printemps de la danse arabe, June Events), in pieces that reflect Syrian reality and her commitment to fighting dictatorship. She is mounting her first solo project, Unstoppable, presented as part of Le Printemps de la danse arabe in 2018. She danced in Va voir là-bas si j’y suis by Thierry Thieû Niang. She is a member of the Pierre Claver association. Winner of the FoRTE (Fonds régional pour les talents émergents) scheme from the Île-de-France region, and of the Caisse des dépôts de la SACD, she is working on her first group creation, Elham, about the confiscation of women’s bodies. She is a member of l’atelier des artistes en exil.
