Abou Alwan Tamara

Born in 1998 in Suwayda, Syria, Tamara Abou Alwan (Galactic Unicorn) is a multidisciplinary artist and activist. Trained in the visual arts at the Visionary Art Academy in Vienna, Austria, she has developed a practice that intersects visual arts (illustration, street art, painting), sound (vocals, electronic music), performance (dance, circus, theater), and psychoanalytic research. Her artistic journey has been shaped by the context of a Middle East in crisis since the Arab Spring. Her work explores memory, spirituality, collective resistance, and resilience. She is the founder of Psyria, the first Syrian electronic and experimental music collective, and a member of the atelier des artistes en exil  in Marseille.
