biography

Born in Algiers in 1993, Abderrahmane Cheref is a self-taught artist whose work explores the links between art, spirituality, nature and human experience. He uses a monochrome palette on large, unbleached canvases, superimposing layers of gesso to reveal light and transparency. Influenced by Arab and Western cultures, the artist has taken part in several group exhibitions in Algiers, Paris and Barcelona with the ALTIBA9 collective. He is a member of the Agency of artists in exile since 2023.
