biography

Born in 1999 in northern Iran, Tina Masoumi is a photographer, photojournalist, and activist. A graduate of Noor High School in Tehran, specializing in cinema, she decided not to attend universities in her country due to her political beliefs. After participating in numerous protests, she fled Iran in October 2022. She focuses on issues related to women’s rights and LGBTQ+ rights. She immerses herself in the Ekbatan neighborhood of Tehran, photographing the daily lives of Iranians behind their curtains, out of reach of surveillance and the constraints imposed by the dictatorship. Her upcoming project centers on the LGBTQ+ community and women in exile in Marseille. She arrived in Marseille in January 2023 and has been a member of the Atelier des Artistes en Exil since February 2024.
