biography
Born in 1987 in Krasnoiarsk, Russia, Maria Teriaeva is a composer and performer. She first played guitar in Russian indie and shoegaze bands, then released a few instrumental EPs under the pseudonym Dub I Prosto Derevo (Oak and Just a Tree), before turning to the Buchla Easel (modular synthesizer), which she combines with acoustic instruments and vocals, on the album Focus in 2017. Her latest album, Conservatory of Flowers, was released in 2020. She took part in the Red Bull Music Academy in Paris in 2015, and has also performed in Spain, Russia, China and Japan.
She is a member of the Keen Association, which invents innovative systems for sound and music. She was in residence at the École supérieure d’art d’Annecy Alpes (ESAAA) in the autumn of 2022 as part of the Pause program of the Collège de France. She performs at les instants Chavirés, La Dynamo de Banlieues Bleues, the Museum of Fine Arts of Rennes, and the Atelier 210 in Brussels.
