biography

Born in 1995 in Zarechny, Russia, Lev Shusharichev is an exhibition curator, researcher and choreographer. He graduated with an Art History degree in 2019 from the Urals Federal University in Ekaterinburg (UrFU), and has studied at the curatorial school of the NEMOSKVA project in 2021. He has worked at the Urals branch of the Pushkin Museum of Fine Art, the Ural Industrial Biennial of Contemporary Art (UIBCA) and Sinara Art Gallery.

His curatorial practice focuses on local art scenes, institutional criticism and support for emerging artists. Within UIBCA, he is the winner of the Innovation Award (2018). His curatorial project Endroit de la peur won the Prix Kouriokhine Prize in 2021. He developed a choreographic practice, taking part as a performer in shows by Olga Kroytor, Sebatjan Baumgarten and Les gens d’Uterpan. He left Russia in 2022. He is a member of the Agency of Artists in Exile.
