Rooney Nofal

Born in 1990 in Homs, Syria, Rooney Lumière is a musician (oud, composition). Raised in a music-loving family, he began learning oud and piano at the age of 10. He started studying at the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts and Music in Damascus but could not finish because of the revolution (2011). His approach to oud mixes Eastern and Western influences: he uses a wide variety of repertoires ranging from jazz to contemporary music, from English pop to flamenco and classical oriental repertoire. Rooney Lumière performed in Damascus and Homs in various concert halls before being forced to flee Syria in 2018. He arrived in France in May 2019. He is a member of the Agency of Artists in Exile. He performed an oud solo at the Mucem during the first edition of Party in Exile in Marseille.
