biography
Born in 1996 in Michurinsk, Russia, Elena Lulina is a filmmaker, stage director, and artistic director. From an early age, she made her own films, experimenting with various genres and styles. At 18, she was admitted to the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts (GITIS), specializing in musical theatre directing. Under the pseudonym Alen Weis, she founded the company Aron Weis Production. Her works were exhibited at the Gallery on Khodynka, a contemporary art space in Moscow, in 2020.
She directed a video for the opera Leyla and Majnun by French composer Armand Amar at the Moscow Philharmonic. Deeply attached to French culture, in Desert, her latest work shown in a gallery, she quotes an excerpt from the eponymous book by the writer Le Clézio. Her first short film, Petrushka, was presented at the French film festival INDIE SHORTS AWARDS Cannes in the 2022 selection. She has been a member of the Agency of Artists in Exile since 2024.
