Born in Moscow, Russia, in 1976, Dimitri Kourliandski is a composer. A graduate of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, his works are performed all over the world. His operas have been staged in Austria, Italy, the Netherlands, Russia and France, under the direction of Theodo-ros Terzopoulos, Boris Yukhananov, Antoine Gindt and Barbara Beyer, and conducted by Teodor Currentzis, Susanne Malkki, Reinbert de Leeuw, Roland Kluttig and Mario Brunello. He works with the Orchestre national de Lyon, Arturo Toscanini Foundation Orchestra, Stockholm New Chamber Or-chestra, Omsk Philharmonic Orchestra, Ensembles KlangForum Wien, Schoenberg, InterContemporain, Contrechamps, Quatuor Diotima, MCME, eNsemble, Studio for New Music, N’Caged, Questa Musica, Tatiana Grindenko and the Academy of Early Music. He teaches musical composition and has received numerous awards. He was the founder and editor-in-chief of the magazine The Contemporary Music Tribune (2004-2009), co-founder and artistic director of the Tchaikovsky International Academy of Young Composers (2011-2020), musical Director of the ElectroThéâtre Stanislavsky (2014-2022), and Artistic Director of the Open Space young composers’ laboratory (2015-2022).
