biography
Born in 1993 in Berdyansk, Ukraine, Glam Gargoyle is a femqueer visual artist whose practice spans painting and installation. She studied at the École Supérieure d’Art de Dnipro, Ukraine from 2009 to 2013, then at the Kyiv Academy of Digital Arts, contemporary art department, from 2017 to 2018. Her interests and reflections focus on queer identity, transhumanism, utopia, and the condition of refugees. She views painting and installation as privileged mediums, since they require access to materials and space. She creates works critical of oppressive policies: she imagines unsettling utopias, like fractured realities.
She held two solo exhibitions: at Noch Gallery in Odessa, Ukraine in 2019, then at Galerie Labyrinth in Lublin, Poland in 2023. She left Ukraine at the start of the war and arrived in Marseille in July 2023, after passing through Warsaw, Berlin, Paris, Hanover, Krakow, and Lyon. She has been a member of the Agency of Artists in Exile since September 2023. She took part in Art-o-rama in Marseille in 2024.
