biography
Born in 1992 in Kinshasa (Democratic Republic of the Congo), Deo Kandu started drawing since a very young age. With a diploma in Fine Arts from the Academie des Beaux-Arts of Kinshasa, he took part in several collective exhibitions at the Wallonie-Bruxelles center and the Embassy of Great Britain in Kinshasa.
His work interrogates History. His series The Black Superheroes painted with a syringe, his favourite tool, highlights contemporary African heroes such as Patrice Lumumba and Thomas Sankara. He arrived in France in 2018 and became a member of the agency of artists in exile.
