Ingabire Vanessa

Born in 1994 in Kigali, Rwanda, Ingabire Vanessa is a writer, poet, storyteller, and actress. She began her artistic journey in 2013 as an actress in the entertainment industry in Rwanda. In 2014, she turned to writing, collaborating with Rwandan musicians as a songwriter. Marginalized for her lifestyle and incarcerated due to addiction, she found in writing both an outlet and a path to healing.

In 2021, her work drew the attention of Rwandan society. She then appeared on several television platforms and performed in rehabilitation centers across the country, notably at the Huye Isange Center. In 2022, she organized her first solo concert at the Inema Arts Center in Kigali, solidifying her place in the Rwandan art scene. In 2023, she moved to France, where she continues to develop her artistic practice. She is a member of the Agency of Artists in Exile.
