Born on November 27, 1997, in Saudi Arabia, Sulafa Elyas, whose real name is Solafa El Hassan, is a Sudanese singer and oud player, with a background in Sufi tradition. Holding a degree in the arts, she also worked as a music teacher. Arriving from Khartoum to France at the end of 2022 under the “Visa Pour la Création” program of the French Institute, she was hosted at the Cité Internationale des Arts. She decided to apply for asylum in France. She performed alongside Dominique Dalcan (winner of the Victoire de la Musique for electronic music album in 2018) on the album “Last night a woman saved my life.” She is working on an EP of six tracks based on poems written by her grandfather, with Maxime Kozinets, and is supported by the Mama Shap organization. She is a member of the agency of artists in exile.
