biography

Born in 1982 in Moscow, Anastasia Sukhareva-Morozova is a Russian sculptor, ceramist and photographer. Trained as an engineer, she participated in free classes at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art before graduating in 2020 from the Joseph Backstein Institute of Contemporary Art. Her work is featured in two solo exhibitions, at MMOMA Moscow in 2019-2020 and at the Italian residency Stone Oven House in 2019. She participates in numerous group exhibitions in Russia, such as at the Elektrozavod Gallery in Moscow (2017), MMOMA (2018, 2019) or the Arsenal Museum in Nizhny Novgorod (2021). Her work is also presented abroad, such as at the Benetton Foundation in Treviso (2011) and at the Verklighten Gallery in Sweden (2022). In her works she explores the boundaries between hauntology and history and questions the consequences of nuclear power. She left Russia in 2022 because of her political activism and joined l’Atelier des artistes en exil.
