biography

Born in 1994 in Creteil, France, Waly Saho grew up in Gambia until he left to live in Mali for 4 years. Afterwards, he went through Burkina Faso, Senegal, Guinea and Libya before returning ultimately to France. Waly comes from a family of musicians, all of whom have mastered the kora. Waly is primarily a percussionist who plays djembe, tama, calabash, darbouka and cajòn. Since the age of 10, he has accompanied many great musicians and performs in groups during festive events and concerts. His travels feed his musical influences, which are blended from the melodies of many African cultures.
He plays in The Young Yacou and is a member of the band Wary with Yacouba Konaté.
