biography
Born in 1992 in Yangon, Myanmar, Pinky Htut Aung is a self-taught multi-instrumentalist and visual artist. She grew up in a family of musicians. A graduate in computer science from the University of Greenwich, she produced her first exhibition in 2018, Clouds are Thoughts as well as putting her art to work in the service of social movements and collective events. She plays with the experimental music group Bouhinga. She flees her country after the coup d’état in 2021 and takes refuge in France. In 2023, she took part in the Doh Ayay! exhibition at POUSH, We are the seeds in Berlin, and Parcours 333 at the Gaîté Lyrique in Paris as part of the Visions d’exil festival. She is a laureate of the European project In Ex(ile) Lab, run by the Agency of artists in exile, of which she is a member. She performs at the Plus petit cirque du monde in the “Interrupted by Fog” project, and plays with a number of bands.
