biography

Born in 1962 in Karaj, Iran, Mostafa Fallahpisheh studied Persian literature and graduated from the Azad University in Karaj. In 1988, after returning from the Iran–Iraq War, he began making ceramic sculptures and drawings, which became his primary artistic practice. His work focuses on the timeless themes of the body and existence. He explores psychological states such as connection and separation, fear, abandonment, and conflict. His ceramic figures, with their human and animal forms that appear to have been unearthed, evoke the instability of memory, remembrance, and its fragments.

Over the past 38 years, he has collaborated with artists’ collectives while developing an independent practice. Despite persistent censorship and restrictions on exhibitions in Iran, he has continued to produce and present his work, most recently at the Delgosha Gallery in 2022. He his a member of the agency of artists in exile since 2025.
