Born in 1985 in Nizhny Novgorod (formerly Gorky) in Russia, Anna Tolkacheva is a digital artist, researcher, and poet. She graduated with a master’s degree in computer science and initially worked as a programmer and researcher in the field of computational linguistics. In 2017, she obtained a degree in new media art from the Rodchenko Art School. Her works explore new ways of creating and accessing text through digital tools and non-standard interfaces. Her work can be categorized within the emerging field of digital poetry, blending experimental video, interactive installations, and textual techniques. Anna Tolkacheva’s works have been showcased in numerous exhibitions, screenings, and festivals worldwide, some of which have received awards, including “Arctic Recall” at the GoEast Film Festival 2022 in Wiesbaden and “The Freedom” at the International Short Film Festival in 2014. She received the Grand Prix at the Video Poetry Festival “The Fifth Leg” in Russia in 2012 and 2016. Anna has been invited to various art residencies, including PolArt in the Arctic Circle in Norilsk, the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, the PROGR cultural center in Bern, and HIAP in Helsinki. She has been a member of the Atelier des Artistes en Exil since September 2022 and currently resides in Marseille.
