Samaan Maryam

Born in 1984 in Damas, Syria, Maryam Samaan does visual and performing arts. Graduated in painting from the Fine Arts of Damas and in scenography from the Institute of Dramatic Art of Damas, she came to France in 2009 to continue her studies in theatre at the Sorbonne Nouvelle – Paris 3 University and design at the European Superior School of Art of Bretagne (EESAB) in Rennes. She obtained the refugee status and left to work for three years in Lebanon (2016-2019) in the refugee camps, with and for children (puppet shows, workshops and drawings exhibitions). Back to France in 2019, she became a member of the agency of artists in exile, directed the puppet show Rupture and leads workshops for the Mac Val as well as schools.
